The Florida House and Senate have both passed legislation that would require women, with a few exceptions, to have an ultrasound before they have an abortion. The bill now goes to the governor, who can sign it, veto it or let it become law without his signature.

A new study has found that providing the morning-after pill in advance does nothing to cut teenage pregnancy rates. It found that while the use of emergency contraception doubled in just six years, the latest data shows it has failed to slash rates of conception or sexually transmitted infections.

Hormones released during pregnancy raise levels of a protein that blocks the growth of breast cancer, say scientists. Although the research is at an early stage they believe it could lead to promising new treatments.
