This week saw the launch of the new website for the Life Institute, Youth Defence's sister group and an important voice for Life in Ireland.

Formerly the Mother and Child campaign, the Life Institute's mission is to be an effective and progressive body speaking for life and family in Ireland today. The Institute has emerged as a key voice in recent important debates on issues such as abortion, euthanasia, embryo research and the protection of the family.

"Our main focus is on researching, informing, and building a Culture of Life. Life Institute is a broad-based initiative with supporters throughout the country, and since organisation has been particularly successful in bringing people together to work for life and family in the past, that's a focus we're going to continue," they said.

He added that there has been a gap in the provision of expert and investigative research and reporting on Life issues in Ireland which had been filled only by Youth Defence. "The Life Institute is going to carry that baton going forward, and we're delighted to do so with a crucial report Join the Dots which lifts the lid on who's behind the push for embryo research in Ireland," said Ms Uí Bhriain.

The LI website is packed with information on family and life issues and it includes a parenting section and a lively blog.

The website also aims to assist the public in making their voice heard and also contains the contact information for every member of Dáil Eíreánn and Seánad Eíreánn, which makes it easy for anyone to contact their TD or Senator on any life issues.
